You'll receive this timeline notification if we've detected a problem with your phase readings.
Sense was designed for the split-phase power systems common in the United States and Canada, so it will by default look for the voltage waves in an electrical system it's installed on to be offset from each other by 180 degrees.
The Signal Check: Phase Error message will appear under the following conditions:
- Your Sense is installed on a single phase electrical panel.
- Your Sense is installed on a three phase electrical panel.
- Your Sense is installed on a split phase electrical panel so that both legs of the power cord are touching the same phase.
Phase errors do not represent a danger, but will affect your Sense's ability to report your wattage and perform device detection accurately. For questions, please reach out to Customer Support. We always recommend contacting an electrician to perform work in your electrical panel.
If adjustments have been made to your Sense installation to address a phase issue, you should conduct a full data reset via Settings > My Home > Monitor > Reset Data. This will clear all historical data and learned devices from your account, giving device detection a fresh start and allowing a more accurate detection process moving forward.
